The Vietnamese embassy in US celebrated 1,000 th birthday of ThangLong-Hanoi on Oct. 15, attracting a large number of overseas Vietnamesein Washington and north eastern states.
Ambassador LeCong Phung recalled 1,000 years of history of Thang Long-Hanoi whichhave close connection to the country’s building and constructionprocess, and reviewed the city’s achievements at present.
The Thang Long-Hanoi millennium is a celebration of the whole nation and a chance to revive national pride, he said.
He also called upon overseas Vietnamese in the US to takepractical actions to contribute their intelligence and strength to thecountry and city’s development.
Participants enjoyed traditional dishes and art performances on Hanoi performed by overseas students.
Earlier,student associations in Washington and neighbouring statesorganised a football tournament to welcome the thousand-year anniversaryof Thang Long-Hanoi./.
