Vietnamese, Japanese calligraphers meet in Hanoi

Vietnamese and Japanese calligraphers met together at an exchange in Hanoi on August 17 to mark the the 40 th anniversary of diplomatic ties between their two countries.

Demonstration and presentationson the art form were held at the event, which was titled “Power ofcalligraphy.” Participants, including members of the Vietnam UNESCOCalligraphy Club, were also invited to enjoy a dialogue between popularJapanese calligrapher Takeda Souun and Vietnamese artist Trung Hieu.

After giving a demonstration of his artistic skill, Takeda, who isalso Japanese Ambassador of Cultural Exchange in 2013, offered his ownpresentation about calligraphy.

Standing Vice President of theVietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO)’s Hanoi chapter, VuThi Hai, declared that the event would popularise the distinctiveculture shared by both Vietnam and Japan, bringing them closer.

The event was co-hosted by the municipal chapter of VUFO, the JapaneseEmbassy in Vietnam and the Scientific and Cultural Centre of VanMieu-Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature).-VNA
