Vietnamese movie “The Tailor” screened in US

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnamesefilm Co Ba Sai Gon (The Tailor) produced by renownedactress Ngo Thanh Van has been entertaining the audiences at the RegencyTheatres Westminster 10 (Goldenwest Westminster) in California, the US.

“The Tailor” is a romantic comedy featuringthe culture and lifestyle of Saigonese and the history of AoDai (Vietnamese traditional long dress). 

It stars Ngo Thanh Van, Ninh Duong Lan Ngoc, DiemMy and People’s Artist Hong Van, and was directed by young talents Loc Tran andKay Nguyen. The film features 3D effects with a soundtrack created by popsingers and bands.

The movie tells the story of a young,arrogant girl named Lan Ngoc in the 1960s.

She was born into a family oftailors who specialised in making ao dai (traditional longdress). She looked down on the career, but by some kind of miracle, travels tothe future and meets herself a few decades later.

Ngoc witnesses the tragedy of herfamily’s trade in the future, which resulted from the fact that she had turnedher back on the craft. She then realises the value of the traditional careerand learns respect for the long dress.

The Tailor,which was awarded Best Feature Film at the Golden Kite Awards by the VietnameseCinema Association in 2017 and has been screened at various international filmfestivals, including the 22nd Busan International FilmFestival in Busan, the Republic of Korea.

The film’s leading character, young actress Lan Ngoc from Ho ChiMinh City, was named Face of Asia at the Asia Star Awards 2017.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Department ofCinematography has recently decided to send Co Ba Sai Gon to the US’s91st Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film.-VNA

Moscow to host Vietnam Culture Festival for first time

Photo exhibition highlights Vietnam–Israel cultural ties
