A collection of images taken by a Vietnamese photojournalist has won third prize in the journalism and documentary category of the Annual Photo Awards, the Czech Republic’s largest contest of its kind.

The winning collection, titled Dinh Menh (Destiny) and shot by Viet Van from the Lao Dong (Labour) newspaper from 2009 to 2015, captures the everyday life of Major General Nguyen Duc Huy, the former commander of the Vietnamese Military Zone 2.

Those photos will now go on display at a gallery in Prague, published in Art Photo Magazine and sent to collectors, critics and gallery owners across the world.

Viet Van is the only Vietnamese who has won prizes at the competition three times. In addition to these prizes, he has won the "Prix de la Photographie, Paris" award in France for six consecutive years.-VNA
