Vietnamese referee chosen to officiate regional championships

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has selected Vietnamese referee Nguyen Hien Triet to work in the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup 2016.

Hanoi (VNA) - The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has selected Vietnamese referee Nguyen Hien Triet to work in the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup 2016, announced the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) on January 26.

Accordingly, referee Triet will be in charge of the match between the Republic of Korea's Seoul and Japan’s Sanfrecce Hiroshima in the AFC Champions League from February 28 to March 2 in Seoul.

Later, the Vietnamese referee will be in charge of the match of the AFC Cup 2016 between Myanmar’s Ayeyawady United and India’s JSW Bengalaru FC from March 14 to 17 in Yangon, Myanmar.

The AFC also summoned four Vietnamese female referees and assistant referees to attend the 2016 AFC Referees Committee held in Kuala Lumpur from March 12 to 19. The selected are Mai Hoang Trang, Cong Thi Dung, Kieu Thi Thuy, Truong Thi Le. On the same day, the VFF held a meeting with sports journalists in the northern region on the threshold of the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

Nguyen Xuan Gu, Vice President of VFF, expressed his sincere thanks for the contributions, inputs and comments by the local press to the VFF over the past year.

The VFF leader hoped that the press will continue to convey the Vietnamese football federation’s images and information to sport’s fans nationwide.-VNA
