A delegation of Vietnam ’s film industry will attend the 63 rd Cannes Film Festival for the first time from May 12-23 at the invitation of Chivas Regal – an official partner of the festival.
The delegation includes four film directors: Ho Quang Minh, Pham Viet Thanh, Nguyen Vinh Son and Nguyen Duc Viet, together with six actor and actresses, including the couple Truong Ngoc Anh – Tran Bao Son, Mai Thu Huyen, Minh Huong, La Thanh Huyen and Ngan Khanh.
Earlier the first feature film by Director Phan Dang Di - “Bi, Don’t Be Afraid” - has been chosen to compete for the International Critics’ Week prize at the festival.
The first presence of Vietnam at such a renowned international event is fantastic news for the country’s film industry.
“We are so nervous and feel honoured to be invited to the Cannes festival,” Director Pham Viet Thanh told the press on April 27. “I believe this is one of the best chances for our film industry to join the world.”
Meanwhile, Director Nguyen Vinh Son said it will be extremely good for directors like him to have a chance to watch products shown at the festival as they are great, extraordinary films./.
