Hanoi (VNA) – Tran Viet Bao, a Vietnamese student studying at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, has won third prize in the under 25-year category at the Roma International Piano Competition.
Bao, 23, received 85.2 points to share third prize with five other contestants, representing the Republic of Korea, Japan, Poland and Australia. Forty contestants from many countries and territories competed for the prize.
Setareh Tabatabai Shafii from Iran won first prize in the category, with 98.8 points.
Bao is studying in a masters course at the Franz Liszt Academy. In 2010, he won second prize at the International Piano contest in Vietnam.
The Roma International Piano Competition includes categories for soloists under ages 19 and 25, and for four-handed duos and two-piano duos for those under age 34.-VNA
Vietnam holds first international piano contest
Vietnam will host its first international piano competition in Hanoi from September 4-12, according to the country’s National Tourism Administration.
