Four hundred Vietnamese students from across the Republic of Korea (RoK) on June 30 participated in the fifth ICFood Football Cup in Chungnam National University, Daejeon city.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Park Kyun-ik, President of the RoK’s ICFood company (the competition’s sponsor), said he hopes that Vietnamese students in the RoK will play a core role in maintaining and developing the RoK-Vietnam friendship in the future.
The company also pledged to work side-by-side with the Vietnamese Students’ Association in the RoK in activities to improve students’ health as well as other programmes.
Vietnamese Ambassador to the RoK Tran Trong Toan expressed his thanks to ICFood for its support for the Vietnamese Students’ Association and presented an insignia to Park Kyun-ik in recognition of his contributions to the association.
This year’s event attracted eight male and five female teams. Sungkyunkwan University’s female team won the gold medal, while Chungnam University dominated the male category.-VNA
