Swimmer Trinh Thi Bich Nhu (Photo: VNA)Hanoi (VNA) – Three Vietnamese swimmers have shown their good performance at the ongoing Paralympics 2016 in Brazil.
At the final round of the women’s 100m breaststroke category on September 12, Trinh Thi Bich Nhu overcame her own achievement at the qualification round to rank sixth globally.
Meanwhile, at the finale of the men’s 100m breaststroke event, Nguyen Thanh Trung and Do Thanh Hai tried their best to rank sixth and seventh respectively.
In the remaining competition days, swimmers Vo Thanh Tung, Nguyen Thanh Trung and Trinh Thi Bich Nhu will continue to compete in the registered categories.
Tung will compete at the 50m freestyle category at 9:55 pm on September 12, while Cao Ngoc Hung will compete at the javelin-throw event of track-and-field at 5:30 am on September 13 (Vietnam’s time).
The 22-member Vietnamese delegation to the Paralympic Rio 2016, which is taking place in Brazil from September 8-19 under the theme “Every Body Has A Heart”, includes 11 athletes to compete in track and field, swimming and weightlifting.
After the fifth day of competition, Vietnam was placed 46th in the medal tally with one gold and one bronze.
Weightlifter Le Van Cong broke the world record to bring the first-ever gold medal for the country, while the bronze medal went to his teammate Dang Thi Linh Phuong.-VNA
