Hanoi (VNA) –
Sent. Lieut. Gen. Pham Minh Ngoc, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam’s People Army (VPA), on August 9 urged the Vietnamese Hydrographic Office and the Hydrographic Department of the Royal Thai Navy to seek cooperation opportunities and soon sign a hydrographic cooperation between the two countries’ navies.

Ngoc made the suggestion at a reception for Vice Admiral Winai Maneeprag, Director General of the Thai Hydrographic Department in Hanoi, where he pledged that leaders of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence and the VPA’s General Staff will create all possible conditions for the two sides to promote their collaboration in the time ahead.

He said the relationship between the naval forces of the two countries has been continuously consolidated, as reflected through regular delegation exchanges and the effective maintenance of cooperation mechanisms such as joint patrols at sea and information exchange via the hotline.

The affiliation has contributed to enhancing mutual understanding and trust between the armies and people of Vietnam and Thailand, he said.

For his part, Winai expressed his impression at the development of Vietnam’s hydrographic sector, and affirmed that dis department supports Vietnam’s joining in the East Asia Hydrographic Commission.-VNA
