The 25-member national men's and women's volleyball teams will be summoned on January 10 in preparation for the 28th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

Both key players and fresh members, especially in the women's team, will be called.

There are no great changes to the men's line-up, which includes veterans such as Nguyen Huu Ha, Le Quang Khanh, Tu Thanh Thuan and Hoang Van Phuong, as well as Giang Van Duc.

Coach Phung Cong Hung has added some new players too, including Nguyen Van Du, Le Hoai Han and Nguyen Cong Chien. But he has ignored rising players Luu Dinh Toan, Bui Thien Men and Bui Van Hai.

A large number of the female veterans will be absent, but this had been predicted earlier. While Pham Thi Yen, Ha Thi Hoa and Pham Kim Hue have said goodbye to the team, Do Thi Minh, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa, Nguyen Thi Xuan and Dao Thi Huyen will be absent because of personal reasons.

Nguyen Linh Chi, Le Thanh Thuy, Dinh Thi Tra Giang and Le Thi Hong will be among the new faces who will take the veterans' places.

Coach Pham Van Long of the women's team said that the team members would go through another round of selections during the training.

The Vietnamese women's team had won a silver medal at the 27th SEA Games held in Myanmar in 2013.-VNA
