The Vietnamese delegation, which is attending the 17th World Festival of Youth and Students (WFYS 17) in South African capital city of Pretoria , hosted a seminar on the development of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union on Dec. 18.
At the event, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations Tran Dac Loi recalled the country’s fight for national liberation as well as the cause of national construction and development, which he said was greatly attributed to young people.
The ambassador took the occasion to introduce Vietnam ’s multilateral and diversified foreign policies. He stressed that Vietnam desires to befriend with all countries worldwide.
Phan Van Mai, Secretary of the HCM Communist Youth Union, reviewed the 80-year history of the union during the cause of national construction and defence.
At the event, international friends expressed their admiration for Vietnamese people during the war, especially the country’s youth.
On the same day, the delegation organised “Vietnamese Day” programme and another conference on the world youth and students’ movement for peace, independence, democracy and social advances.
During the nine-day festival, which opened on Dec. 13, the Vietnamese delegation attended other 24 conferences and a wide range of sporting and cultural activities./.
