Vietnam’s airports serve 50 million passengers in 2014

Vietnam's airports served over 50.5 million passengers and handled 905,000 cargo tonnes in 2014.
Airports throughout the country have served more than 50.5 millionpassengers and handled 905,000 tonnes of goods in 2014, year-on-yearincreases of 14.7 percent and 18 percent, respectively, said Lai XuanThanh, Head of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).

Good sign was seen in the domestic market with estimated totalpassengers of 17.5 million, rising 20.5 percent against last year. Therate of delayed and canceled flights declined sharply and accounted for19.3 percent of total flights for the year.

Vietnam’saviation sector has coordinated with relevant parties to operate morethan 542,000 flights throughout the year without any accident.

On the other hand, the number of incidents relating to aviationsafety increased by a staggering 177 percent compared to 2013. One ofthe most serious incidents was the first-ever 35-minute power outage atthe Ho Chi Minh City Area Control Centre (ACC/HCM), which disabled theradar system controlling air traffic and affected at least 54 flightsthat were within the city’s flight information region (FIR) on November20.

In the coming time, the sector plans to boost itsimplementation of a national programme on air traffic safety in a bid toaddress the current problems.-VNA

First “green lane” durian shipment exported to China

​Under the “green lane” process, quality control begins at the cultivation stage, including soil sampling and monitoring, and continues through harvesting and processing, with traceability labels attached to trees and applied to fruit at the time of picking. It also allows plant quarantine procedures and the issuance of certificates of origin (C/O) directly in the localities where the orchards are located.

Vietnam pushes for deeper auto supply chain ties with RoK

The RoK stood as Vietnam’s largest foreign investor with more than 95.2 billion USD in registered capital as of February 2026, or about 18% of all foreign cash flowing in, with thousands of active projects.
