The central city of Da Nang must fully harness its distinctive potential, outstanding opportunities, and competitive advantages to achieve double-digit economic growth, solidifying its role as a growth hub of the central – Central Highlands region and the nation, said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on December 21.

Vietnam’s business and investment climate is showing marked improvements following sustained reform efforts, with enhanced access to business-related information and regulations, reduced unofficial costs, and effective administrative reforms, according to the latest survey by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has issued Directive 09/CT-TTg, specifying solutions to remove obstacles to production and business activities so as to achieve this year’s growth target.

The likely gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate of 6.8 percent and improved business climate are among the highlights of Vietnam’s economy in 2018, experts said.

Vietnam aims to have 1 million businesses by 2020, and to reach this lofty goal, more timely solutions are needed, according to Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung.

Amid the complex world situation, Vietnam needs to push ahead with reforming policies and regulations to keep up with the development pace of the global economy, said Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
