Female weightlifter Le Khong My Phuong won a gold medal at the 2015 IWF Youth World Championships held in Lima, Peru on April 9.
Phuong lifted 70kg in the snatch category of the women's 44kg discipline to take gold, followed by Chinese athlete Gao Yimei who lifted 67kg.
In the clean and jerk category, she ranked fifth with her lift of 76kg.
However, she lifted 146kg in total to gain one more silver medal.
Gao Yimei won two gold medals in the clean and jerk category (88kg) and total lift (155kg).
In the men's 50kg category, Le Nguyen Quoc Bao won two silver medals and one bronze medal.
Next, Nguyen Tran Anh Tuan and Ly Quang Vinh will compete in the men's 56kg event.
Vietnam has sent four athletes to take part in the tournament, which will end on April 12.-VNA
