Vietnamese well-known violinist Bui Cong Duy will share the stage with the US’ Trio FUGU at a symphony concert in Ho Chi Minh City on April 9.
Several outstanding artists from Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera will also perform on the occasion, such as clarinettist Dao Nhat Quang, violinist Tang Thanh Nam and violist Bui Anh Son.
Together the artists will entertain audience with famous works of Mozart while trio FUGU will bring to the stage vibrant Latin beats with works of Argentine-born Astor Piazzolla as well as classical and sacred music by Estonian contemporary composer Arvo Part.
Bui Cong Duy is the top violinist of Vietnam. He started to play the violin at the age of four under instruction of his father, Professor Dr. Bui Cong Thanh.
He won scores of prizes, including the first prize of Z.Bron International String Competition in 1995 and the first prize and golden medal of International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in 1997 in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
He works for the Vietnam National Academy of Music in Hanoi and also plays at many big concert events worldwide.
Trio FUGU, consisting of pianist Ming Tsu, violinist Lorenz Gamma and cellist Joon Sung Jun, has a combined experience of performing extensively in many of the world’s most prestigious concert halls. The members of trio FUGU perform and teach regularly at numerous festivals in the U.S, Mexico, China, the Republic of Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Germany, France, Italy and Switzerland.
