Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s national U16 team beat Laos 2-1 in theinternational friendly tournament ASEAN 2018 in Miyazaki, Japan, on March8.

The Laoteam made a good start with the goal of striker Chony Wenpaserth in the 16th minute.

Vietnam’sU16 team launched counter attacks but they failed to earn any goals in thefirst half.

Early in the second half,Vietnam pressed on and levelled the score to 1-1. Receiving a pass fromthe right wing of Minh Dan, Quoc Hoang headed the ball past the goal keeperof Laos.

In the 51st minute,Trung Hau raised the score to 2-1 for the Vietnamese side.

In the remainder of thegame, Vietnam changed tactics and players but no more goals were scored.

The event attracted theparticipation of 12 teams. Vietnam is in Group Dwith Laos and Miyazaki.

The teams will compete in around robin format to choose the best team in each group to reach to thesemi-finals. Vietnam will play against Miyazaki today.-VNA
