Director of the group Nguyen Manh Hung said Viettel is the secondlargest revenue earner among nearly 500,000 Vietnamese enterprises andis running investment in nine outbound markets with a total populationof 175 million.

Last year, Viettel grossed 197trillion VND (9.03 billion USD) in revenue representing a yearly rise of20 percent, Hung reported at a working session with Politburo memberand permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat LeHong Anh in Hanoi on July 20.

Politburo memberAnh said Viettel has become the biggest telecom group in Vietnam after15 years of development and is expanding its operation in foreignmarkets.

The group has actively participated insocial welfare activities to improve local living standards, especiallyin far-flung areas, he noted.

He urged Viettelto focus its financial resources on building itself into a strong groupin the defence industry and economics.

Earlier,the Politburo member visited staff of the Viettel Research andDevelopment Institute and those working at the group’s building in theHoa Lac hi-tech park.

He was informed on theapplication of advanced technology in banking, energy conservation,health exams at home, online education and new-generation televisionservices.-VNA
