Vinh Long (VNA) – The International Volleyball Championship – Vinh Long Television Cup opened in the Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long on August 26.
Lasting until August 31, the tournament sees 10 Vietnamese and foreign teams (five male and five female) competing in a round-robin format, with the best two selected for the final game.
The prizes are worth 600 million VND (25,835 USD) in total, doubling that of 2018. Of the sum, the champion will pocket 150 million VND.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Lu Quang Ngoi said the event is an opportunity for Vinh Long to prepare for the year-end national volleyball championship and enhance its international friendship, exchanges and cooperation.
Earlier the same day, three matches of both female and male categories took place, with Vietnamese teams beating their competitors from Malaysia, China, and Cambodia.-VNA
