Under the pact, Siemens Mobility, a supplier of high-speed rail technologies and solutions, will design, supply and integrate trainsets and key railway subsystems, including signaling, communications and power supply. It will also cooperate in maintenance for supplied equipment and transfer technology to support VinSpeed’s rail projects.
The Ben Thanh–Can Gio railway project includes the construction of a double-track railway with a 1,435mm gauge, fully electrified, with a main line length of approximately 54.062 km, a designed speed of 350 km/h, and a load of 17 tonnes per axle.
The Hanoi-Quang Ninh high-speed railway will become one of only two high-speed railway lines in the country, alongside the 1,541km North-South line from Ngoc Hoi Station in Hanoi to Thu Thiem Station in Ho Chi Minh City.
In their proposals, VinSpeed plans to implement the North-South high-speed railway project in five years while Thaco, seven years.
VinSpeed Joint Stock Company has officially registered to invest in Vietnam’s North–South high-speed railway project, proposing a total investment of 61.35 billion USD and pledging to begin construction before December, with full operations expected by December 2030.
VinSpeed commits to mobilising 20% of the total capital, equivalent to 12.27 billion USD. For the remaining 80%, excluding costs related to compensation, relocation support, and resettlement for land clearance, the company proposed borrowing from the state budget, through zero-interest loans, repayable over a 35-year period from the disbursement date.
