Vietnam has reached the semi-finals of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Futsal Championship qualification tournament in Bangkok , Thailand.
The semi-final berth follows two convincing victories that have earned the team six points, thrashing Malaysia 4-0 in the opener and demolishing Cambodia 7-1 in the second Group B.
But not content the second place in the group, in the match against Australia on Feb. 23, the Vietnamese players draw 2-2, earning one more point and jumping to first place in Group B.
They have a rest day on Feb. 24 and will play in the semi-final round on Feb. 25.
Vietnam needs a top-three finish to achieve the goal of qualifying for the AFC Futsal championships to be held in the United Arab Emirates in May.
Vietnam qualified for the 2010 edition of the championship, but could not progress beyond the group stage./.
