VN representatives join Olympic torch run

Ngo Phuong Lan and Le Quang Liem will participate in the torch relay opening the 2012 London Olympics.
Miss Vietnam World 2007 Ngo Phuong Lan and Vietnam 's internationalchess grandmaster Le Quang Liem will participate in the torchrelay at the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics inManchester, the UK this June.

Liem and Lan will join the event along with more than 100 outstanding individuals from countries round the world.

The torch relay is one of the traditional events held before the Olympic Games officially open.

This year, around 6,800 torchbearers will carry the Olympic torch for70 days through many cities, towns and villages in the UK beforereturning to London and lighting the Olympic flame at the openingceremony.

In response to the event, Samsung, an Olympicsponsor, has officially launched a walking contest in Vietnam withthe aim of encouraging people to take part in sporting activities.

The contest is scheduled to take place in Ho Chi Minh City on June17. It is expected to attract more than 5,000 participants.-VNA

Football tournament fosters unity among Vietnamese in RoK

The Vietnamese football scene in the RoK has seen remarkable growth, now boasting nearly 100 amateur teams. Every year, the Vietnam Football Association in the RoK organises two major tournaments, gathering around 30 teams and over 1,500 participants, along with numerous smaller-scale events throughout the year.

HCM City to celebrate national reunification with record-breaking drone show

At 8:45 pm on April 30, all 10,500 drones will take to the sky, followed by a 15-minute fireworks display across 30 city locations at 9 pm., creating a festive and dazzling atmosphere, according to Nguyen Tat Kiet, head of the Performing Arts Division under the municipal Department of Culture and Sports.
