Host Vietnam beat Myanmar 8-1 in the opener of the 2010 Southeast Asian Futsal Championships in the southern hub of Ho Chi Minh City on April 5.
Myanmar dominated during the first minutes of the first half and opened the score with a goal by Htein Lin at the seventh minute.
However, the host team gained the initiative right after Truong Quoc Tuan levelled the score five minutes later.
Nguyen Hoang Giang and Nguyen Trong Thien pushed Vietnam ahead before the first half ended by two goals at the 13th and 18th minutes.
In the second half, Quoc Tuan, Ngo Anh Dung and Nguyen Quoc Bao each scored on goal, while Ha Bao Minh contributed two others to fix the score at 8-1.
In another match on the same day, Malaysia defeated the Philippines 5-3.
Vietnam will play the Philippines on April 6, while Myanmar will meet Indonesia.
