Nguyen Hoang Ngan took the first gold in the women's individual event. She beat local favourite Yulianti Syafrudin with an immaculate performance.

Ngan later took her second gold in the women's team event.


Meanwhile, in kumite, Vu Thi Nguyet Anh won the third gold for Vietnam in the women's 50kg category.

Anh, who is also hoping to defend her title at the November's Asian Games (ASIAD), defeated Indonesia 's Martinel Prihastuti in the final match.

Later Le Bich Phuong won the women's 55kg category before earning a second gold in the team event alongside Nguyet Anh, Bui Thi Trieu and Dao Thi Thoan.

Tran Hoang Yen Phuong also pocketed a silver in the women's 61kg class.

Male martial artists won four bronze medals.

"The team's achievements in the last two international tournaments demonstrate their dominance. Their performances bode well for the ASIAD in China ," said Vu Son Ha, head of karate at the National Sports Administration.

Vietnam sent 15 athletes to the tournament in Indonesia./.
