Le Dung, Vietnamese Consul General to Houston, Texas, on Feb. 24 visited the Texas Tech University, expressing the wish to further boost cooperation between Vietnam and the university.
Dung said that the two sides should undertake practical projects and plans to implement their signed agreements to facilitate Vietnamese students’ studying at Texas Tech.
The Vietnamese guest was received by President of the Texas Tech University System Kent R. Hance, who conveyed that one of his highest priorities is attracting more Vietnamese students, especially in the departments of agriculture, business management, communications, medicine and law.
Hance said that he has visited Vietnam and he loves its people and land. He wants to further boost multifaceted cooperation between the US and Vietnam, firstly in education and the training of human resources, he said.
The Vietnamese diplomat also held working sessions with David Miller, deputy President of the Texas Tech University System in charge of economic and trade development; Stephen Maxner, Director of the Centre for Vietnamese Study; and Sandra L. Crosier, Director of the office for international issues.
Texas Tech University has about 28,000 students from the US and 90 other countries. The university’s Centre for Vietnamese Study is considered to be the largest in the US./.
