General Director of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) Nguyen Duc Loi paid a working visit to Mexico from June 4-7, during which he signed an agreement on bilateral cooperation for the 2014-2015 period between the VNA and the Mexican News Agency Notimex.

During Loi’s meeting with Notimex General Director Alejandro Ramos Esquivel, both sides spoke highly of the two agencies’ implementation of their previous commitments and were unanimous in their willingness to strengthen ties further.

VNA and Notimex officially set up their relationship in 1997, after the Vietnamese agency opened its bureau in Mexico City.

Under the newly signed agreement, the two sides will continue providing each other with both domestic and global information services of all types, as well as exchanging officials.

During his stay in Mexico, General Director Loi and his entourage were welcomed by Pedro Vazquez, Politburo member of the Mexican Labour Party (PT), who expressed his determination to expand and deepen the relationship between his party and the VNA.

He confirmed the party’s consistent backing for Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes, as well as the country’s stance of solving East Sea disputes by peaceful means on the basis of international law and mutual respect.

Loi also laid a wreath at the monument to President Ho Chi Minh in Mexico City and visited the Vietnamese embassy.-VNA
