Waterway tours reopen in Ho Chi Minh City

Ho Chi Minh City has reopened waterway tours to the city’s outlying district of Can Gio, marking the resumption of waterway travel in the city after months of suspension due to Covid-19.

Tourists took a day trip on a Greenlines high-speed boat that departed from Bach Dang Wharf in downtown Ho Chi Minh City to Can Gio district and then to Thieng Lieng hamlet in the district’s island commune of Thanh An and the Vam Sat ecological tourist zone.

In Thieng Lieng, the tourists joined a bike tour cycling around the small island, becoming familiar with daily life through local cuisine and arts.

The waterway tours are among the city’s special travel services. With their resumption, its tourism industry takes a step forward on its plan to fully recover after being hit hard by the highly-contagious Delta variant of Covid-19.

Along with road tours, the Bach Dang - Can Gio waterway route will contribute to providing new experiences for visitors. Following this first tour, the city’s Department of Tourism said it will continue to work with districts and businesses to open more waterway tours shortly./.
