Windsurfing World Cup opens in Vietnam

The Windsurfing World Cup tournament of the Professional Windsurfers Association (PWA) opened at Mui Ne beach, Phan Thiet city in the central coastal province of Binh Thuan on Feb. 27.
The Windsurfing World Cup tournament of the Professional Windsurfers Association (PWA) opened at Mui Ne beach, Phan Thiet city in the central coastal province of Binh Thuan on Feb. 27.

Attending the opening ceremony were Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh, President of the PWA Jimmy Diaz and nearly 100 windsurfers from 28 countries and territories worldwide.

Addressing the event, Diaz highlighted Mui Ne as an ideal destination with strong wind and wave that help competitors show off their windsurfing skills and techniques. Therefore, PWA will intend to organise more international tournaments here.

Athletes to this year’s PWA World Cup, the first ever held in Vietnam , will compete in two categories, namely freestyle and slalom.

The tournament will last till March 5./.
