The gift market is becoming busy, offering a wide range of gifts and services to satisfy all kinds of needs in response to Vietnamese Women's Day, which falls on October 20.

Since flowers remain among the most popular gifts on the occasion, florists are offering flower baskets at prices ranging from a few hundred thousand dong to over 1 million VND (44.7 USD).

But prices have not increased much compared to normal days, they assured.

An employee of a flower shop on Hai Ba Trung Street in HCM City's District 3 said the most popular flower baskets were those priced at 200,000-300,000 VND (8.9-13.3 USD), with only a few ordering those costing 500,000 VND (22.3 USD) and above.

Supermarkets and malls have launched programmes to attract customers.

The French-owned Big C supermarket chain has launched "Ton vinh ve dep Viet" (honouring Vietnamese beauty) at its 31 outlets around the country, offering discounts of up to 49 percent on more than 1,000 items from 200 famous brands, including skincare and hair care products, cosmetics, fashion products, and accessories, and gifts until March 16.

It is selling gift boxes and baskets with pretty designs at prices ranging from 37,900 VND to 206,500 VND.

Women customers will be offered free consultation on makeup, skincare, and hair-care at Big C outlets during the period.

Korean supermarket chain Lotte Mart is also offering attractive discounts on more than 1,200 products together with gifts until October 26. During weekends customers can buy makeup products at a 49 percent discount.

It is also selling more than 100 kinds of gift sets at prices starting at 39,000 VND.

SC VivoCity shopping mall and cosmetics brands like THEFACESHOP, Sheryn and SkinFood are offering consultation on skincare and makeup from October 17 to 20.

The mall will present roses to 500 women customers on Vietnamese Women's Day.

Other supermarkets like Co.opmart and Maximark have also launched promotions targeted at female customers.

Fashion and souvenir shops on Nguyen Dinh Chieu and Le Van Sy streets in District 3, Nguyen Trai Street in District 5, and 3 Thang 2 Street in District 10 have put up signs offering promotions.
