Ha Tinh (VNA) – Construction started on a Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) in the central province of Ha Tinh on June 25.

The first phase of the Ha Tinh VSIP project covers 190.41 hectares in Thach Ha district, and has a total investment of 1.55 trillion VND (60.8 million USD).

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha highly valued VSIP Group - a brand associated with a chain of industrial parks and industrial, urban and service complexes in many localities across the country.

With its reputation, brand, and experience in 28 years of investment cooperation in Vietnam, along with its strengths in technology, green vision and sustainable development strategy for the community, VSIP will contribute to Vietnam's green transition process.

Tan Cheng Guan, Executive Vice President in the Office of the Group President & CEO at Sembcorp Industries – the project’s investor, said that the strong development of VSIP Group is proof of the strong and long-term friendship between Singapore and Vietnam. Since the first park was established in 1996 in the southern province of Binh Duong, VSIP has succeeded in replicating the model across 13 provinces and cities in Vietnam. The groundbreaking ceremony of the VSIP Ha Tinh in the north central region marks another important milestone, he added.

There are currently 18 VSIPs across Vietnam, with a total area of 11,588 hectares. Operating VSIPs have attracted 930 customers from 30 countries and territories, with a combined investment capital of 21 billion USD, and created over 300,000 jobs.

Appreciating VSIP’s selection of Ha Tinh as its investment destination, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vo Trong Hai pledged to strictly follow commitments and promptly address the investor’s recommendations and proposals./.
