Work starts on infirmary on Song Tu Tay Island

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) has commenced work on an infirmary in the Song Tu Tay Island commune in central Khanh Hoa province .

Addressing the ground-breaking ceremony on April 12,Chairman of the VGCL Dang Ngoc Tung highlighted that the initiative is apart of a series of activities to commemorate significant anniversariesin 2015, including the 40th anniversary of Southern Liberation andNational Reunification, the 40th anniversary of Truong Sa (Spratly)archipelago Liberation and the 60 th anniversary of the VietnamPeople’s Navy.

He affirmed that the trade unions always work alongside soldiers and people on the island to safeguard the national sovereignty.

Overthe past years, the VGCL has organised activities to help improvelocal living conditions, such as the establishment of fisheryassociations in 28 coastal provinces, programmes supporting offshorefishermen.

The chairman praised the efforts of soldiers andpeople on the island in overcoming difficulties and hoped they would dotheir utmost to build and safeguard the nation’s sea and islandsovereignty.-VNA
