Central Nghe An province’s People’s Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony on December 7 for the Cua Lo deepwater harbour in Nghi Thiet commune, Nghi Loc district.
The port will serve exports and imports to and from Laos and northeastern Thailand as well as meet the socio-economic needs of nearby provinces and is in line with the development plan for an economic zone in the southern Thanh Hoa-North Nghe An.
The project, invested in by the International Transport Investment and Development Company, along with Japan Port Consultants (JPC) as advisors, will cost over 490 million USD from the local budget and other sources.
On a site of 110 hectares, by 2030, the port will include 13 wharfs that can handle vessels up to 30,000 DWT, six wharfs for 50,000 DWT vessels and one wharf for 100,000 DWT vessels./.
