Representatives from ministries, departments and public regional development agencies in Southeast Asia have all gathered in Hanoi for a two-day workshop on the challenges to cooperation and communications in regional development.
Minister of Planning and Investment Vo Hong Phuc opened the workshop on April 26, stressing that the Vietnamese Government is working closely with donors to speed up international cooperation.
The workshop is an excellent opportunity for Vietnam to lead the way in finding financial assistance to cope with future challenges by combining aid with economic integration around the region and the world in general, said Minister Phuc.
At the workshop, the participants discussed issues relating to cooperation between neighbouring countries, economic integration in Southeast Asia , the effectiveness of aid and priorities for the poor. How Southeast Asian countries can contribute to a major forum in Seoul next year on the effectiveness of aid is also top of the workshop's agenda.
The event was jointly held by the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Japanese Foreign Ministry, the Republic of Korea’s Foreign and Trade Ministry and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development./.
