The Young Photography Festival 2015 kicked off in Hanoi on August 25, showcasing the most excellent and creative works by young photographers nationwide.

With the theme Young Vietnamese Generations – The Country and Development, the festival aims to encourage young Vietnamese, ranging from 14 to 35 years old, to participate in creating photographic arts.

It is also a meaningful event to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the country.

The event received 3,054 entries from 527 young photographers from across the country. About 206 of the most excellent works have been selected to be displayed in the exhibition, 21 of which were chosen to receive awards.

"All the entries for the Young Photography Festival 2015 have high artistic value, stick tightly to the topic and demonstrate vividly the beauty of the country, its people, culture, and the process of constructing and protecting sovereignty as well as modern life issues," said Vuong Duy Bien, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

According to Doan Thi Thu Huong, chairwoman of the event's board, the show, which is the first held on a national scale, has created an interesting playground for young photographers.

"Though the number of young Vietnamese photographers is pretty large, they have not received much attention. The festival is also expected to orient young generations of Vietnam's photography," she added.

The first-prized photo exhibited in the festival is Sac Mau Thoi Dai Moi (The Colour of the New Era) by Vuong Thuy Giang from Ha Noi. The second places are granted to Vui Choi Ben Buc Tuong Tuoi Tho (Playing by the Childhood Wall) by Nguyen Huu Thong from Bac Giang and Hon Ngoc Vien Dong (The Far Eastern Pearl) by Nguyen Anh An from HCM City.

The festival will run until September 2.-VNA
