As many as 101 Vietnamese athletes will participate in the 2013 Asian Youth Games in Nanjing, China from August 16-24.
The sportsmen and women will compete in 14 out of the 17 events: badminton, table tennis, tennis, football, swimming, springboarding, athletics, weightlifting, taekwondo, fencing, shooting, judo, golf and handball.
The tournament is considered as a rehearsal for Vietnamese athletes a head of the 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games in China and the Asian Games in Vietnam in 2019.
Organised every four years for athletes from 14-17 years old, the tournament is expected to feature 3,900 athletes and officials from 45 countries and regions.-VNA
