Sixty delegates from the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCM CYU) will attend the Vietnam - Laos Youth Friendship Meeting 2009 scheduled for between October 2-9 in Laos.
The HCMCYU told the press in Hanoi on Sept. 28 that the delegation of Vietnamese young people, led by the Secretary of the HCMCYU Central Committee Duong Van An, will take part in meetings in Vientiane and Luang Prabang and Xieng Khuang provinces.
This is an important external political activity of the HCMCYU which will consolidate and enhance the traditional relationship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the young people of both countries and between the HCMCYU and the Laotian People’s Revolutionary Youth Union (LPRYU).
At the meetings, the HCMCYU and LPRYU representatives are expected to sign a bilateral cooperation agreement for the 2010-2011 period in which they will work with the Cambodian Youth Association in the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia development triangle investment programme under the Vientiane Declaration.
The HCMCYU will announce its decision to help Laos build the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Palace in Vientiane and the Vietnam-Laos Youth Friendship Village in a Laos border province.
The Vietnamese delegates will tour a number of economic and cultural establishments in Luang Prabang and Xieng Khuang provinces.
The Vietnam-Laos Youth Friendship Meetings began in 1999 and are held annually. They are part of the close relations between the HCMCYU and LPRYU, besides their regular visits, cooperation in personnel training and mutual help in encouraging farming and business activities by their members./.
