Binh Dinh (VNA) - The south-central province of Binh Dinh will focus on developing infrastructure, and utilising sports events and international conferences to attract future investment, according to local officials.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Tuan Thanh said that the local authorities are focusing on infrastructure development to lure more investors and large businesses.

Addressing a conference on socioeconomic information and the Culture, Sports and Tourism Week of the locality held in Quy Nhon city on March 23, Thanh said “If you want to attract big eagles, you must build a big nest”.

Infrastructure development - key to investment attraction

Tran Vu Thanh Hung - Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Planning and Investment said that the provincial economy reached nearly 118 trillion VND (over 4.76 billion USD) in revenue, with its GRDP expanding by 7.61% in 2023.

In 2023, the province's export turnover reached 1.6 billion USD. Binh Dinh served 5 million tourists with a total revenue of over 16 trillion VND.

Industry, tourism, high-tech agriculture, port andlogistics services, and urban economy associated with urbanisation will be the five main pillars for the locality’s socioeconomic development in the coming years, Hung said.

Regarding investment attraction, Thanh said that currently, the Nhon Hoi Economic Zone along with seven industrial parks (IPs) and 68 industrial clusters of the province have been invested in infrastructure development synchronously.

Each industrial cluster has at least 20-30 ha of clean land, he said, adding that open policies, abundant human resources, and guaranteed infrastructure are the competitive advantages of Binh Dinh.

As scheduled, the locality will host a Vietnam-Canada trade promotion conference on March 28 and an investment promotion conference 2024 on March 29.

“We hope that through these conferences, many large businesses and 'eagles' will be interested in and explore investment opportunities in Binh Dinh,” Thanh said.

Specifically, the Amazing Binh Dinh Fest (or Binh Dinh culture, sports and tourism week), officially kicked off on March 22 evening. The highlight of the event is the UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship taking place from March 22-24 and the UIM-F1H2O World Championship Grand Prix from March 29-31.

Thanh said from 2024, Binh Dinh will host annual international sports events, adding that by doing so, along with the strength of tourism-culture and existing infrastructure, QuyNhon-Binh Dinh tourism will developwell in the coming time.

Regarding the orientation to develop Binh Dinh into an artificial intelligence centre of Vietnam, Thanh said the provincial authorities have worked with ministries and sectors to realise this plan.
