More than 40 small and medium enterprises (SME) from Italy attended a seminar on development of the Vietnam-Italy business partnership, in Ho Chi Minh City on May 24.

Representatives from the two countries introduced the partnership and business opportunities for foreign investors.

The seminar heard that foreign direct investment in Vietnam is rising, especially in the production sector.

Vietnam boasts many advantages to attract foreign investors with stable socio-economic conditions, improved tax and legal regulations and cheap labour costs, they said.

Representative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation Patrick Gilabert said the seminar is part of an SME development project funded by the Italian government.

The project is designed to develop an international business partnership for the two countries’ businesses and implement activities to promote trade, production and technical cooperation agreements.

The project has provided technical assistance to almost 80 Vietnamese textile and garment, footwear and wooden furniture businesses and organised 40 training courses and 10 fact-finding tours for Vietnamese businesses to conduct market surveys and visit production mills in Italy.

On this occasion, the Italian business delegation will conduct a market survey and engage in dialogue with Vietnamese businesses.-VNA
