Spreading love through Vietnamese “ao dai”

A number of programmes took place in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue, the capital of the traditional Vietnamese “ao dai”, in celebration of International Women’s Day (March 8).

Programmes include a community “ao dai” show and a specials art programme entitled “Ao dai Hue”.

Entry to the Imperial City is free to visitors wearing an ao dai.

A zero-dong stall is introduced to present ao dai to needy women in the province.

In just a short period of time, a large number of women and benefactors across the province donated 2,000 ao dai for those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

This aims to spread the love of the “ao dai” in the community and to preserve the values of the traditional Vietnamese outfit.

Hue has been the land of the “ao dai” for hundreds years and has actively implemented the “Hue - The capital of Vietnamese ao dai” project.

The project aims to review the traditional cultural heritage of the ao dai in Hue and build it into a unique cultural and tourism product./.
