Hanoi (VNA) – A Vietnam-Finland musical exchange was held in Hanoi on December 7, featuring performances by artists, lecturers and students of the Hanoi College of Art and the Pohjanmaa quintet.

The event was to mark the 101st Independence Day of Finland (December 6, 1917), 45 years of the two countries’ diplomatic ties, and 10 years of the friendship between the Vietnamese capital city and Finland’s South Ostrobothnia region.

Opening the concert, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-Finland Friendship Association Doan Minh Tuan said the time-honoured and multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries have been growing. Economic, trade and investment partnerships are a priority of the European nation in its connections with Vietnam.

The Vietnamese people always keep in mind Finland’s valuable assistance in many practical projects such as clean water supply projects in Hanoi and Hai Phong city, along with poverty reduction and hospital building projects. These supports have helped foster bilateral relations, he noted.

He added that the musical exchange would help the two peoples further understand each other and convey the message of peace, solidarity and friendship.

Jarmo Anttila, Executive Director of the Seinajoki City Orchestra, said it was their honour to join musicians from the Hanoi College of Art in the performances. –VNA
