Hanoi (VNA) – The National Power Transmission Corporation under Electricity of Vietnam (EVN-NPT) mobilised about 1.3 billion USD in Official Development Assistance (ODA) for its transmission projects from 2011 to 2015.

In 2015 alone, the company completed procedures for a co-financed loan worth 304.29 million USD from the Asia Development Bank (ADB) and Germany’s Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau ("Reconstruction Credit Institute") (KfW), and a 340-million-USD loan from ADB.

The corporation also worked with the French Agency for Development (AFD) to use a loan of 38 million USD and negotiated with KfW about a new 95-million-EUR loan for a smart-electricity project. It signed an loan agreement worth 86 million USD for its Thai Binh thermoelectricity project.

According to EVN-NPT Member Council Chairman Dang Phan Tuong, his firm will continue to maintain bilateral and multilateral relations with traditional international financial organisations such as ADB, the World Bank, AFD, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), KfW and Japan’s Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI), aiming to ensure enough capital for its projects.

Apart from ODA provided by major sponsors, the firm is also seeking investment and technical support from other international financial institutions.

It cooperated with the US Trade and Development Agency to design an IT roadmap, and worked with an electricity agency of Japan’s Kansai region on training and experience sharing in purchasing and selecting equipment.

EVN-NPT is also affiliated with a number of consulting firms and its counterparts in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia.-VNA
