130-year-old water tower in Hanoi’s Old Quarter

A water tower in Hanoi’s Old Quarter was opened to public recently as part of activities within the framework of the Hanoi Creative Design Festival.

The 130-year-old water tower is designed to resemble a solid three-storey fortress, with a cylindrical body and a cone-shaped corrugated iron roof.

The Hang Dau Water Tower has a capacity of 1,250 cubic metres and is surrounded by a stone wall with 54 narrow doorways.

Its space replicates the sound of water in nature, connecting people with the living environment.

The opening of the Hang Dau Water Tower is within the framework of the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2023, co-organised by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, the Architecture Magazine, and others.

Its opening hours are from 9am to 5pm every day from November 17-26./.
