14 fishermen missing after vessel capsizes off Malaysia’s coast

A sand mining vessel capsized on March 21 in the waters off Malaysia in the Malacca Strait, leaving 14 crew members missing, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) announced.

Hanoi (VNA) -  A sand mining vessel capsized on March 21 in the waters off Malaysia in the Malacca Strait, leaving 14 crew members missing, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) announced.

There were 18 crew members on the vessel, including one Malaysian, one Indonesian and 16 Chinese citizens. Three Chinese have been rescued, one was found dead and 14 remained missing, said MMEA.

The Dominica-flag vessel, JBB RONG CHANG 8, owned by a Chinese, capsized 8.5 nautical miles off Parit Jawa in the southern Malaysian state of Johor, according to a shipping tracking website "marinetraffic.com,"

Search-and-rescue mission is still underway.-VNA
