Jakarta (VNA) – As many as 181 terror suspects have been arrested in Indonesia during preemptive operations over the past two years, the country’s police announced.

The Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) has coordinated with the counter-terrorism squad Detachment 88 in conducting the operations. It is part of an extensive effort to prevent all terrorist threats, National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo said at the 79th founding anniversary of Brimob at their headquarters in Depok, West Java province, on November 14.

He noted that the former president had issued a directive emphasising the importance of preventing any bomb attacks, even the smallest explosions.

Listyo held that preventive measures are the top priority in anti-terrorism operations. They include early intervention to thwart any potential terrorist plots./
