15th NA’s fifth session enters fifth working day

Hanoi (VNA)  - The 15th National Assembly continued the fifth working day at the ongoing fifth sessionin Hanoi on May 26, under the chair of NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

At themorning plenary session presided over by NA Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Hai, theNA listened to Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung’s report andChairman of the NA Committee on Finance-Budget Le Quang Manh’s report onexamining the NA’s draft Resolution on piloting several special policies andmechanisms for the development of Ho Chi Minh City.

Later,  member of theNA Standing Committee and Chairman of the NA Committee on Science, Technology,and Environment Le Quang Huy delivered a report on collecting feedback on thedraft revised Law on Protection of Consumers’ Rights which were then discussedby the legislators.

Concludingthe discussions, Huy also explained several issues raised by deputies.

At theafternoon plenary session chaired by NA Vice Chairman Tran Quang Phuong, Ministerof National Defence Phan Van Giang presented a report while Chairman of the NACommittee on National Defence and Security Le Tan Toi delivered a verification reporton the draft law on the management and protection of national defence works and military zones.

Lawmakers also for the first time looked into the results of monitoringthe settlement of voters' suggestions sent to the 15th NA’s fourthsession.

As scheduled on May 27 morning, they will consider reportsexamining the draft Law on People's Public Security, the draft Law onamendments and supplements to several articles of the Law on Entry and Exit ofVietnamese Citizens and the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence ofForeigners in Vietnam., a report on the NA’s draft supervision programme for2024.

In the afternoon, they will debate in groups the draft Lawamending and supplementing several articles of the Law on People's PublicSecurity, the draft Law amending and supplementing several articles of the Lawon Exit and Entry of Vietnamese Citizens and the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam./.

The two officials agreed to continue their long-standing coordination at multilateral forums, including the Francophonie, while reinforcing practical collaboration with regional organisations such as ASEAN and the AU, for the benefit of their people and for peace, stability and development in their respective regions and globally.

Vietnam, Laos strengthen cooperation on overseas community affairs

The two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in overseas Vietnamese and overseas Lao affairs for the 2026–2030 period, providing a framework for future collaboration. Laos will send a delegation to Vietnam to study preparations for the World Conference of Overseas Vietnamese, scheduled for December 2026.
