HCM City (VNA) – About 200 Vietnamese and Indianenterprises in the pharmaceutical and medical field participated in anetworking event in Ho Chi Minh City on July 5, together exploring their ‘golden’cooperation and investment opportunities in the post-pandemic period.

The annual conference was co-organised by the VietnamChamber of Commerce and Industry's Branch in Ho Chi Minh City (VCCI-HCM) andthe Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil).

As heard at the function, businesses of the sides arelooking for joint pharmaceutical partnerships, particularly in COVID-19 vaccineproduction.

In the medical area, outstanding Indian projects in Vietnam include a500-million-USD pharmaceutical industrial park in Thanh Hoa province and an internationalpharmaceutical park worth 10-12 billion USD in Hai Duong province.

Recently, Vietnam revised regulations and Indianbusinesses meeting the quality requirements are free to participate in biddingpackages to supply drugs and pharmaceuticals to public health facilities.

Pranay Verma, Indian Ambassador to Vietnam, highlighted theimportance and potential of the countries’ pharmaceutical and medical trade andinvestment. India has been a drug factory of the world, while Vietnam is anattractive market for both the global and India pharmaceutical industries forits large population and increasing people's average income, he noted.

India will back enterprises regarding administrativeprocedures to help beef up collaboration in the sphere, the diplomat said,stating that Vietnam is a key nation in India’s Look East policy reflectedthrough the sides’ multifaceted cooperation in recent years.

Director of the VCCI-HCM Tran Ngoc Liem said pharmaceuticaland medical partnership, among joint works in many other fields of the nations’strength and advantages, will help the two soon realise their target of 15billion USD in bilateral trade./.

Vietnam's tourism sector faces labour shortage

A 2026 survey by Hoteljob.vn found that nearly 90% of tourism businesses planned to recruit. In Ho Chi Minh City alone, 89.7% of businesses were hiring, while 71.8% said recruitment was difficult or very difficult. The biggest shortages were among frontline workers, particularly in housekeeping, engineering, food service, front-office operations, and kitchens.
