2023 International Youth Day: Training youths in green skills

Hanoi (VNA) - The United Nations in Vietnam marked the InternationalYouth Day (August 12) with a ceremony in Hanoi on August 11, with over 50young people taking part.

In line with the theme of this year’s International Youth Day - Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World, young delegates and stakeholders engaged in meaningful dialogues about education and the use of green skills in two round-table discussions andvarious interactive activities conducted both in-person and online.

United Nations Resident Coordinator in VietnamPauline Tamesis said by 2030, 60% of young people could lack the necessaryskills for development in the green economy. She underlined the need to fill the gap and ensure that everyone has equal access to green skills.

As Vietnam strives towards an equitable energy transitionand a net-zero emission future, a workforce transformation to drive a green andlow-carbon economy is of utmost importance, UNDP Resident Representative in Vietnam Ramla Khalidi said, adding that the Vietnameseyouths need to be well-prepared and equipped with green knowledge, skills, andcapabilities to join in this workforce.

According to her, seizing new opportunitiesto foster green employment and future skills is not just an investment in thepotential of youths, but also a commitment towards a sustainable world./.

Phu Tho: 200kg bomb safely relocated, detonated

According to a report by the Phu Tho Military Command, local residents spotted the bomb on August 31 in the Da River after the river water receded, exposing it beneath mud and soil on the riverbed. The bomb remained intact, including its fuse, and was located about 300m from a residential area.

Shift to data-driven administrative procedures needs acceleration
