2024 AFC U17 Women's Asia Cup: Vietnam advance to next round

The Vietnam U17 women's team have officially qualified for the next qualification round of the 2024 AFC U17 Women's Asia Cup after a 3-0 victory over Uzbekistan in the final match.

Hanoi (VNA) - The Vietnam U17 women's team have officiallyqualified for the next qualification round of the 2024 AFC U17 Women's Asia Cup after a 3-0 victory over Uzbekistan in the final match.

Though the Vietnamese team only needed a drawto advance, they controlled the game from the early minutes. The Uzbekistan’s netshook in the ninth minute after a decisive dribble and shot by striker Ngan ThiThanh Hieu.

In the 72nd minute, from a counter-attacksituation, Vietnam increased the lead to 2-0 thanks to a goal from Hoai Trinh.In the final minutes, a goal from captain and defender Nguyen Thi Thuong secureda 3-0 victory for the team.

With six points from two consecutive winsagainst Palestine and Uzbekistan, Vietnam secured a place in the next round ofthe competition in Group C. Head coach Akira Ijiri and his team will wait forthe top seven teams in the remaining groups to compete for the last fourslots to the 2024 AFC U17 Women's Asia Cup finals to be held inIndonesia./.
