6,500-tonne oil tanker delivered to RoK

An oil/chemical tanker with a capacity of 6,500 tonnes was delivered to a company of the Republic of Korea (RoK) in the northern port city of Hai Phong on March 25.

Hai Phong (VNA) - An oil/chemical tanker with a capacity of 6,500 tonnes was delivered to a company of the Republic of Korea (RoK) in the northern port city of Hai Phong on March 25.

The 109.45m-long YN GWANGYANG was designed by the Asia Ship Design & Consultants Co., Ltd and built by the Pha Rung Shipbuilding One-member Co., Ltd in Thuy Nguyen district of Hai Phong.

General Director of the Pha Rung One-member Shipbuilding Co., Ltd Vu Huu Chien said this tanker has many high requirements of technology, quality and stability, adding that it is a product of strength of his firm.

The Pha Rung Shipbuilding One-member Co., Ltd - a cooperation project between the Vietnam and Finland - was inaugurated in 1984.  

Thousands of ships have been repaired by the company over the last 35 years. Pha Rung has become a reputable firm for domestic ship owners as well as those from Russia, Ukraine, Germany, the RoK, Cuba, Greece and Belgium.  

Kim Young-soo, President of BS Tanker of the RoK - the owner of YN GWANGYANG, said he believes that the successful building of the 6,500-tonne tanker will pave the way for the prosperous development of Vietnam's shipbuilding industry and RoK shipping companies in the future.-VNA
