AFF U22 Championship: Vietnam lose 0-1 to Indonesia in semi-finals

Vietnam was defeated 0-1 by Indonesia in the semi-finals of the ongoing ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U22 Youth Championship at the Phnom Penh Olympic Stadium in Cambodia on February 24.

Hanoi (VNA) –Vietnam was defeated 0-1 by Indonesia in the semi-finals of the ongoing ASEANFootball Federation (AFF) U22 Youth Championship at the Phnom Penh OlympicStadium in Cambodia on February 24.

The two teams finished the first halfof the match with no goal and a few opportunities created.

At the 70th minute,Indonesian player Luthfi Kamal scored from a free kick after Van Hanh made afault in the box.

During the remaining minutes,Vietnam spared no effort to strike back but failed to secure a goal intoIndonesia’s net.

With the defeat, Vietnam will viefor the third place of the tournament on February 26.

Vietnam ranked first in Group Aafter a goalless draw with Thailand on February 21. Earlier, the Vietnameseteam beat the Philippines 2-1 in the opener and defeated Timor-Leste 4-0 in thesecond match.

Meanwhile, Indonesia beat hostsCambodia 2-0 in the last round of matches of Group B on February 22, winningthe final spot to the semi-finals.-VNA
